(BOSTON) - Those of us who covered Gov. Romney during his less than sparkling run atop Beacon Hill, have run out of ways to describe him. “Moderate conservative” “progressive populist” “Elitist everyman” - nothing sticks to this guy, not even his own suits. Like the old Invisible Man, beneath those French Cuffs all that the Rolex holds onto is thin air. Some wonder if he removes that unflappable hairdo at night, seals it in some kind of mason jar and presses the “Dream” button…..ah, but these are the theories espoused by bored reporters chomping on scraps.
So Ozzie Guillen, the excentric manager of the Miami Marlins, recently found himself in some hot water with the latin community, by claiming that he “admired Fidel Castro. In response, Ozzie went on national television yesterday to tell his fans that he made a big mistake and that his words really offended many of the cuban american residents in this country. While we all saw this broadcast, rumor has it that he performed a musical apology at El Pez coffee shop in Miami, FL. Apparently he got up on stage and played Dan Reeder’s “Havana Burning.” If anyone has this footage the good Chief would love for you to send it to him.
If you are not the kind of person who plays golf or even watches the sport (yes, i said it “sport), then you may not find the comedy in this video. Nevertheless, the PGA tour has taken on many young players over the past couple of years and their personalities are unlike the stuck up, snobby, rich white guy image of the past. Instead, they have embraced the twitterverse, and showed young golfers all around the world that regular people can play golf at the professional level too.
Above you can see an animated picture featuring a rotating array of blue crosses and 3 yellow dots. Try to fixate on the center and just focus on the flashy green spot. Note that the yellow dots have disappeared after a while – either one by one, or in pairs simultaneously. At one point they even start reappearing randomly!
Here’s what I want you to do: close your left eye and just focus your right eye on the tiny static circle on the left of the screen. At some point the big circle will disappear as it crosses your ‘blind spot‘. If you can’t see this effect, it means you’re sitting too close/far from your monitor. Try sitting closer/further to the screen and repeat the test. So, have you managed to find your blind spot?
Last week, I had a chance to sit down with Professor Pry and pick his brain like a dried up nose. While he did reveal to me many stories about the consulting business, I was really shocked to learn about his new research in card shuffling.
A 150-foot asteroid orbiting Earth called 2012 DA14 will pass so close to Earth it will fly UNDER man-made satellites orbiting our planet.
Nasa’s Impact Risk report said that the odds of the space rock actually hitting our planet are very low indeed - but on February 15 next year it will pass just 17,000 miles from Earth, closer than ‘geostationary’ satellites.
